SOAR’s mission is “to encourage young adults to invest in their future, helping them to become responsible and motivated advocates for their life.” SOAR connects with youth on an individual level and creates tailored programming.
SOAR’s vision is “to provide services that guide adolescents toward successful future endeavors and encourage them to stay focused regardless of unfavorable influences or circumstances.” SOAR recognizes that our demographic often feels forced to participate in services, which can result in a lack of “buy-in” and engagement.
SOAR implements programs that create a higher sense of responsibility, purpose, and excitement in order to minimize the feeling of being mandated to engage. SOAR believes in using our youths’ interests as a driving force to develop a sense of purpose and a reason to improve in that particular activity, as well as all aspects of their lives. By creating individualized passion-driven programming, youth feel heard, valued, and respected. Youth are more willing to leave the juvenile justice system path by having positive outlets for socialization and expression, a higher sense of self-worth through adventure and positive challenges, and a strong connection to mentors, peers, and organizations within their community.
SOAR is excited to announce our new adventure therapy program. Through SOAR, marginalized youth will be able to partake in adventure activities alongside a licensed adventure therapist. Think adventure: through this program, we will be taking our youth hiking, camping, backpacking, SUPing, snowshoeing, rock climbing, backcountry cooking, and more.
